We know that the maximum orbital velocity of a satellite orbiting near the earth surface is,
v = (gR)^½ = v0
And the escape velocity Ve = v0*(2)^ ½ = 1.414*v0
Increase in the velocity = Ve – v0 = (1.414 - 1.000)v0 = 0.414 v0
Therefore, percentage increase = 41.4%
