Question :

A satin ribbon of length 75 cm is divided into two pieces in the ratio of 2:3. What is the length of each piece?

Answer :

\sf\pink{Given:}

  • length of satin ribbon is 75 cm.

  • It is divided in two parts in the ratio 2:3 .

\sf\pink{To\:find:}

  • length of each part ?

Explanation :

  • let the length of one part be 2x.

  • let the length of other part be 3x.

Equation Formed :

\\ \longrightarrow\sf{ 2x + 3x = 75 }

\\ \longrightarrow\sf{ 5x = 75 }

\\ \longrightarrow\sf{ x = \dfrac{75}{5} }

\\ \longrightarrow\sf{ x = 15}

  • Length of one part is 2x

\\ \longrightarrow\sf{ 2\times 15}

\\ \longrightarrow\sf{ 30}

Therefore the length of one part is 30 cm.

  • length of other part is 3x.

\\ \longrightarrow\sf{ 3\times 15}

\\ \longrightarrow\sf{ 45}

Therefore the length of other part is 45 cm.
