Given:

Bulk gravity = 1.86

water content = 40.8%

Explanation:

void ratio:

It is define as the ratio of total volume of void to the volume of solids in given soil mass

e = V(v) - V(s)

e > 0, voids ratio has no upper limit

For Fully saturated soil = S = 100% = 1

W = 40.8% = 0.408, G =1.86

e × S = W × G

e × 1 = 0.408 × 2.7

e = 1.10

Answer = 1.10
