Answer: Let A's present age= x years

B's present age= (70-x) years

Difference between their ages= x-(70-x)

= x-70+x

= 2x-70

When A's age was (70-x) years

Then B's age was (A's age - Difference of their ages) = 70-x-(2x-70) = 70-x-2x+70

= (140-3x) years

According to the question,

A's present age = 2(B's past age)

x = 2(140-3x)

x = 280-6x

x+6x = 280

7x = 280

x = 280/7

x = 40

A's present age= x = 40 years

B's present age= (70-x) = (70-40) = 30 years
