Hey

Here is your answer,

Let the present ages of A and B be a and b respectively

A says to B "I am twice as old as you were when I was as old as you are".
=> A's age = 2 × (B's age when A's age was equal to B's age)
=> A's age = 2 × (B's age when A's age was b)
=> a = 2[b - (a-b)]
=> a = 2(b - a + b)
=> a = 2(2b - a)
=> a = 4b - 2a
=> 3a - 4b = 0 ---(1)

Given
a + b = 63 ---(2)

Solve (1) and (2).
(2)×3 - (1) => 7b = 189
=> b = 27

From(1), 3a - 4×27 = 0
=> a - 36 = 0
=> a = 36

Required difference = (a - b) = 36 - 27 = 9

Hope it helps you!
