A school bus travel at a distance of 2km in 20 minutes. Find the speed in metre per second.

ʀǫɪʀ ᴀɴsᴡᴇʀ:-

ɢɪᴠᴇɴ:-

  • Distance travelled by the bus = 2km
  • Time taken by the bus = 20 minutes

ғɪɴᴅ:-

  • Speed of the bus in meter per second.

sᴏʟᴜᴛɪᴏɴ:-

  • First, we have to convert the distance in meter and the time in second. Then applying the formula of speed, we can calculate the speed of the bus I'm meter per second.

>>Speed:- Speed is measured as the ratio of distance to the time in which the distance was covered.

Formula of speed:-

  • Speed = Distance/Time

We have,

  • Distance = 2km = (2×1000)m = 2000m [ ∵ 1km = 1000m]
  • Time = 20 minutes = (20×60)s = 1200s [ ∵ 1 minutes = 60 seconds]

Substituting the values:-

  • Speed = Distance/Time
  • Speed = 2000m/1200s
  • Speed = 1.667m/s

Therefore, the speed of the bus is 1.667m/s [ approximately ]
