A school campus is rectangular in shape. Its length and breadth are 40 m and 20 m, respectively. There is a path 3m wide outside the campus all around it. Find the area of the path.

outer Length=40+3+3=46m

outer breadth=20+3+3=26m

Area of outer rectangle=46×26=1196 m^2

Inner area of rectangle=40×20=800 m^2

so area of path=1196-800=396 m^2
