a school flag pole which is 69m high casts a shadow of 3.2m at about 11am the shadow cast by the school lower at the same time is 18m long. Calculate the height of the tower

Given that the time is the same we will also assume that the magnification is the same.

The formula to obtain this is :

Image height of the pole / height of the pole  = Image height of the tower/ height of the tower

Let the height of the tower be h .

Doing the substitution we have :

3.2/69 = 18/h

we need h.

3.2h = 1242

h = 1242/3.2 = 388.125 m

= 388.125m
