Since there are 9 period in a school each of total time 40 min
So Total time the school work =9×40=360 min

If there were 8 period in day of school each period will be of = 360/8 min =45 min

Given:

Duration of a period=40 mins

Number of periods=9

To find:

The duration of each period when there are 8 periods

Solution:

The required duration is 45 minutes.

We will calculate the overall duration of the 9 periods to divide it by the required total periods in school.

So, the school's duration=number of periods×each period's duration

=9×40

=360 minutes

Now, we are supposed to have only eight periods in the same school hours and so will divide the school's total duration by 8 to determine the value.

The period's required duration=School's total duration/number of periods

=360/8

=45 minutes

Therefore, the required duration is 45 minutes.
