A school has a hall which is 22m long 15.5m broad . A carpet is laid inside the hall leaving all around a margin of 75cm from the walls . Find the area of the carpet and the area of the strip left uncovered. If the width of the carpet is 82cm, find the cost at the rate of rs.60 per m ​

Area of school hall = l × b = 22×15.5 m sq.

= 341 m sq.

Length of carpet = 22 - 75/100 + 75/100

= 22 - 0.75 + 0.75

= 22 - 1.5

= 20.5 m

Breadth of carpet = 15.5 - 0.75 + 0.75

= 15.5 - 1.5

= 14 m

Area of carpet = L × B

= 20.5 × 14

= 287 m sq.

Area of strip left uncovered = area of school - area of carpet = 341 - 287 m sq. = 54 m sq.

Cost of carpet = 287 × 60 = rs. 17,220
