Given :

Rate of temperature drop of the compound  = 11 degree fahrenheit per hour

The temperature of the compound after 4 hours = 90 degree fahrenheit

To Find :

The original temperature of the compound = ?

Solution :

The amount of temperature drop in 1 hour = 11 degree fahrenheit

So, the amount of temperature drop in 4 hours = 4 \times 11 degree fahrenheit

= 44 degree fahrenheit

Since the temperature of the compound after 4 hours is given 90 degree fahrenheit  , this is the temperature after a drop of 44 degree fahrenheit from the  original temperature of the compound .

So the original temperature is :

= 90 degree fahrenheit  + 44 degree fahrenheit

= 134 degree fahrenheit

Hence , the original temperature of the compound is 134 degree fahrenheit .
