Important component that is missing is - Hydrogen.

The experiment in question is commonly known as Miller-Urey Experiment.

The experiment relates to origin of life and proves that essential elements for living beings were created from simple compounds.

The four compounds were taken namely, methane,  hydrogen,  water vpour and ammonia.

These compounds were heated with electric sparks and it resulted in production of anino acids,  which are monomers of proteins, which in turn are the building blocks of life.
