Answer

  • Option ( c ) is correct

Given

  • A scoorterist covers a distance of 3 kilometre in 5 minutes

To Find

  • Speed in m/s

Concept Used

  • 1 kilo meter = 1000 m
  • 1 min = 60 s
  • 1 km/h = ⁵/₁₈ m/s
  • Speed is defined as distance travelled per unit time .

\bullet \;\;\; \bf Speed=\dfrac{Distance}{Time}

  • SI unit of Speed is m/s

Solution

Distance , d = 3 km

⇒ d = 3 × ( 1000 m ) [ ∵ 1 km = 1000 m ]

d = 3000 m

Time , t = 5 min

⇒ t = 5 × ( 60 s ) [ ∵ 1 min = 60 s ]

t = 300 s

Now , Apply formula .

\implies \rm Speed=\dfrac{Distance}{Time}\\\\\implies \rm S=\dfrac{d}{t}\\\\\implies \rm S=\dfrac{3000}{300}\\\\\implies \rm S=10\ m/s

Speed of scooterist is 10 m/s .

Answer:

Given:

  • A scooterist covers a distance of 3 kilometre in 5 minutes.

Find:

  • Calculate his speed (meters per second).

Know terms:

  • 1 km = 1000 m.
  • 1 m = 60 sec.

Using formula:

  • Speed = Distance/Time

Calculations:

= 3 (1000)

= 3000

= 5 (60)

= 300

Now using the above formula, we get:

= 3000/300

= 10 m/s

Therefore, 10 m/s is the speed of the scooterist.
