SOLUTION

TO CHOOSE THE CORRECT OPTION

A scooter was bought for 55000 rupees and

sold after one year for 49500 rupees. What is the percentage loss?

  • 15%

  • 12%

  • 10%

  • 7%

EVALUATION

Here it is given that a scooter was bought for 55000 rupees and sold after one year for 49500 rupees

Since selling price < cost price

So there is loss in the deal

Loss amount

= Rs 55000 - Rs 49500

= Rs 5500

Hence the required percentage of loss

 \displaystyle \sf{ =  \frac{5500}{55000}  \times 100 \%}

 \displaystyle \sf{ =  \frac{1}{10}  \times 100 \%}

 \displaystyle \sf{ =  10 \%}

FINAL ANSWER

Hence the correct option is 10%

Given :-

  • CP of scooter = Rs.55000 .
  • SP of scooter = Rs.49500 .

To Find :-

  • Find loss % ?

Solution :-

we know that,

  • Loss = CP - SP .
  • Loss % = (Loss in Rs * 100) / CP

so,

→ Loss = CP - SP

→ Loss = 55000 - 49500

→ Loss = Rs.5500

then,

→ Loss % = (Loss in Rs * 100) / CP

→ Loss % = (5500 * 100) / 55000

→ Loss % = 10% (C) (Ans.)
