Dear Student,

◆ Answer -

10 s

● Explanation -

Let t be the time after which bus overtakes scooter.

Distance covered by scooter in time t is -

s = vs × t

s = 15t ...(1)

Bus already has 50 m benefit.

s = 50 + ub.t + 1/2 at^2

s = 50 + 0×t + 1/2 × 2 × t^2

s = 50 + t^2 ...(2)

From (1) & (2),

15t = 50 + t^2

t^2 - 15t + 50 = 0

t = 10 s or t = 5 s

At 5 s, scooterist will be overtaking the bus. And at 10 s bus will overtake the scooterist.

Hope this helps you...
