Swachh Bharat Abhiyan -

The Swachh Bharat Abhiyan (Clean India Mission), a cleanliness campaign, was launched on 2nd October, 2014 by our Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi. It aims to make clean and Open Defecation Free (ODF) India.

Objectives -

• Improving levels of cleanliness in rural areas by solid and liquid waste management activities.

• Building community toilets in rural areas so that villages can be open defecation free, hygienic and sanitised.

• Keeping the cities and towns clean by cleaning roads and streets.

• Providing safe and sustainable sanitation with the help of cost-effective and appropriate technologies.

• Educating and motivating people to adopt sustainable sanitation practices and facilities.
