Given:

A seller marked a price of Rs 460 on a cycle and sold it giving a 25% discount. if he got 15% profit, then find out the cost price of the cycle?

To find:

The cost price of the cycle

Solution:

Finding the S.P. of the cycle:

The M.P. of the cycle = Rs. 460

Discount% = 25%

∴ The S.P. of the cycle is,

= M.P. - [\frac{Discount\%}{100} \times M.P.]

= 460 - [\frac{25}{100} \times 460]

= 460 - 115

= \bold{Rs.\:345}

Finding the C.P. of the cycle:

Profit% = 15%

Therefore,

The C.P. of the cycle is,

= \frac{100}{100 + P\%} \times S.P.

= \frac{100}{100 +15} \times 345

= \frac{100}{115} \times 345

= \bold{Rs.\:300}

Thus, the cost price of the cycle is → Rs. 300.
