A sells his goods at 15% discount. Fin the price of an article which is sold for ₹680.

Let the marked price or MP be ₹ x.


Note: Marked Price is the amount at which the article is marked and it is generally exclusive of any discounts.


If we read the question carefully then we get the following equation,

x - 15% of x = ₹ 680

\bold{x\:\:-\:\:\frac{15}{100}\:\:of\:\:x\:=\:\:680}

85x/100 = 680

x =  680*100/85


When we solve further we get as a result,

x = ₹ 800


Hence,


The price of article was ₹ 800.
