A semicircular plate of 80mm diameter has its straight edge in the H.P and inclined at 30 degrees to V.P. The surface of the plate makes an angle of 40 degrees with the H.P. Draw it's projections when center of the straight edge is 70 mm in front of V.P

Answer:

It's projections when center of the straight edge is 70 mm in front of V.P [See in attachment]

Explanation:

Step 1: The possible orientations of the surface of a plane with respect to the principal planes are given below-

1. Surface of plane is parallel to the H.P. (and perpendicular to the V.P.).

2. Surface of plane is parallel to the V.P. (and perpendicular to the H.P.).

3. Surface of plane is perpendicular to both H.P. and V.P. (i.e., parallel to profile plane).

4. Surface of plane is inclined to the H.P. and perpendicular to the V.P.

5. Surface of plane is inclined to the V.P. and perpendicular to the H.P.

6. Surface of plane is inclined to both H.P. and V.P.

Step 2: 1. In this case the plane of the figure always remains perpendicular to $\mathrm{Hp}$.

2. It may remain parallel or inclined to VP.

3. Hence $T \mathbf{V}$ in this case will be always a LINE view.

4. Assuming surface // to VP, draw true shape in suspended position as FV. (Here keep line joining point of contact & centroid of fig. vertical )

5. Always begin with FV as a True Shape but in a suspended position. AS shown in 1st FV.
