A semicircular piece of paper of radius 14 cm is rolled to form a cone of the largest possible size. Find the capacity of the cone.

EASY

ANSWER

Radius of semi - circular piece =14 cm

Circumference of semi - circle = πr=

×14

=44 cm

∴ Circumference of base of cone =44 cm

⇒2πR=44cm⇒R=

2×22

44×7

=7cm

Radius of semi - circular sheet = slant height of conical cup ⇒l=14cm
