Speaking at an event organised by the Central Water Commission (CWC) to mark World Water Day on March 22 Tomasz Kozlowski, EU Ambassador to India observed that while clean and sufficient water supplies were  prerequisites for human health and economic development, water was becoming increasingly polluted and scarce. He said that "responding successfully to the global water crisis would require global cooperation". He noted that that the India EU Water Partnership signed at Ministerial level in October 2016 had led to the development of joint action plans in nine priority areas encompassing policy dialogue; research, innovation and best practices; and financing mechanisms for the development of the water sector. Reiterating the EU's strong commitment to cooperation with India in this sector, he thanked the Ministry of Water Resources and its agencies for their cooperation. In his address the Minister of State for Water Resources Mr. Arjun Ram Meghwal said that "water resources in India needs improved management requiring participatory approaches'.
