A series LCR circuit with R = 20 W, L = 1.5 H and C = 35 μF is connected to a variable-frequency 200 V ac supply. When the frequency of the supply equals the natural frequency of the circuit, what is the average power transferred to the circuit in one complete cycle?

# Given -

R = 20 W

V = 200 V

# Solution -

When frequency of the supply equals natural frequency of the circuit, Z = R.

Current in the circuit will be -

I = V / Z

I = V / R

I = 200 / 20

I = 10 A

Now, average power transformed to the circuit will be -

P = V.I

P = 200 × 10

P = 2000 W

P = 2 kW

Therefore, average power transformed to the circuit will be 2 kW.
