Unity power factor means that Current and Voltage are in the same phase which happens only in a purely resistive circuit.

In RLC circuit we will get unity power factor only when Inductive reactances and Capacitive reactances cancels each other(which means purely resisitive circuit).

And this is the condition of RESONANCE .

Hence when the RLC circuit will be in Resonance we will get UNITY POWER FACTOR.

Some of the characteristics of series RLC circuit at Resonance are

1. Impedance will be minimum.

2. Current will be maximum.

3. Unity Power Factor

4. Voltage Magnification.

5. It will behave as ACCEPTOR CIRCUIT.
