Edward James Stafford known as Ed Stafford was born on 26th December,
1975 is an English explorer. He holds the Guinness World Record for being the
first human ever to walk the length of the Amazon river. Walking the Amazon
expedition conceived and successfully completed by him. It was the first
time anyone had journeyed the entire length(4,000 miles) of the Amazon River
from source to sea on foot in 860 days.
He began on April 2nd, 2008 with Luck Collyer from Camana, Peru on
the Pacific Coast in search of the furthest source of the Amazon. From there
the pair followed the course of the river with the intent of reaching the Atlantic
Ocean within one year. Collyer departed from the expedition after the three
months due to growing differences between the two men. Stafford continued alone
and recruited Gadiel "Cho" Sanchez Rivera, and finished on August, 10, 2010.

like smoked tortoise, lost his funding, and slogged through tropical forests with
permanently wet clothes. Over the course of the journey was buoyed by individual
donations, the value of his trusty pack rafts, and support from school children
following his quest.
“What would have already been a satisfying thing just to complete the
expedition was made even better by the amazing response,” Stafford told Outside
