A sheet of paper measures 30cm by 20cm . a strip 4cm wide is cut from it all around. Find the area of the remaining sheet and also the area of the strip cut out

Area of paper= 30 X 20

                      =  600 square cm

Area of strips along the length  =  2 X 30 X 4

                                                    =  240 square cm

Area of strips along the breadth  =  2 X 20 X 4

                                                       =  160 square cm

Area of strip = 240 + 160

                     = 400 square cm

Area of remaining sheet = Area of paper- Area of strips

                                         =  600 - 400

                                         =  200 square cm
