A shelf contains 25 different books, 7 are in single volume and other are in set of 9, 6, 3 volumes respectively. Total number of ways in which books may be arranged on the shelf if volumes of each set are together and in increasing or decreasing order.

To Find : Total number of ways in which books may be arranged on the shelf if volumes of each set are together and in increasing or decreasing order.

Solution:

there are 7 in single volume and other are in set of 9, 6, 3 volumes

Hence 7 + 3 volumes = 10

10  can be arranged in 10!   Ways

Each volume can be arranged in 2 ways increasing or decreasing order.

hence 2 * 2  * 2  = 8 ways

Total Ways of in which books may be arranged on the shelf  = 8 * 10!

=2,90,30,400
