A shell fired at angle ′θ′′θ′ velocity of shell at highest point is vcosθvcos⁡θ

Let its mass be m

speed of one piece =vcosθ=vcos⁡θ

Let speed of other piece =v′=v′

Using conservation of momentum

mvcosθ=m2mvcos⁡θ=m2vcosθ+m2v′vcos⁡θ+m2v′

Therefore v′=3vcosθv′=3vcos⁡θ

Hence a is the correct answer.
