A ship shall sink inside water until is displaces the amount of water that equates its own weight. And the density of water has an effect on this. Since the density of water is more in marine water it will ride higher but since the freshwater’s density is less as compared to marine water the ship reaches its larger depth. The density of water is also affected by temperature and salinity which is another reason for the larger depth in freshwater.
