Given,

The ship has provisions for 600 passengers.

150 passengers joined the journey.

To find,

The number of days that the provisions will last after the joining of new 150 passengers.

Solution,

We can solve this problem by normal arithmetical method.

New passengers number = 600+150 = 750

Now,

For 600 passengers the provisions last for =  50 days

For 1 passenger the provisions last tor = 50×600

For 750 passengers the provisions will last for = 50×600/750 = 40 days

[The multiplication and division are reversed because the two terms are inversely proportional to each other.]

Hence, the provisions will last for 40 days.
