Vpw=vp-vw

-10√2j=10(i+j/√2)-vw

-10√2j=5√2i+5√2j-vw

(-10√2-5√2)j+(-5√2)i= -vw

15√2j+5√2i=vw

vw= 10√5km/hr

Answer:

v_w = 10\sqrt 5 \frac{km}{hr}

Explanation:

In this question

Given that

Vector velocity of the ship is v_p = 10 \frac{km}{hr}

Velocity  of the ship relative to the wind v_pw

Formula, v_pw = v_p - v_w

-10\sqrt 2 j = -10(i + j)\times \sqrt 2 j - v_w-10\sqrt 2 j = 5\sqrt 2 j + 5\sqrt 2 i  - v_w

(-10\sqrt 2 - 5\sqrt 2)j + (-5\sqrt 2)i = -v_w

(15\sqrt 2)j + (5\sqrt 2)i = v_w

v_w = 10\sqrt 5 \frac{km}{hr}
