Let the depth of the sea be x meters.

During the entire journey, the sound travels twice the depth of the sea. Hence, the distance traveled by the sound = 2x

Speed of sound in water = 1500 m/s

Time taken by the sound during entire journey = 4 seconds

2x = speed × time

\( x = \frac{1500 \times 4}{2}

x = 3000 m

Hence, the depth of the sea is 3000 m.
