Explanation:

Given:

Distance travelled by sound one time = 2900 metres and the sound comes back so 2d = 2900 × 2 = 5800 metres(2d).

Time taken by the sound to reach ship(t) = 4 secs,

The speed of sound in water (s) = ?

So the Solution is:

formula s = 2d/t,

s = 5800 / 4,

s = 1450m/s,

Answer:

given,

t = 4s

d = 2900m

speed of sound in water = 2d/t

i.e,

v = 2×2900/4

v = 5800/4

v = 1450m/s
