INTERVIEW BETWEEN AN INTERVIEWER AND A SHIPWRECKED SAILOR NAMED VELASCO

1. Interviewer: Hello Velasco, tell me something about about March 10, 1955.

Velasco: Oh I can never forget that date. I badly escaped death.

2.Interviewer: What had happened exactly?

Velasco: It was a journey where I and seven other shipmates had to face trouble on sea after we were literally thrown into that violent sea by other enemies.

3. Interviewer: Who were your enemies?

Velasco: People from the Columbia-naval forces.

4. Interviewer:How was the weather then and before?

Velasco: The weather was quite stormy, specially in the Caribbean areas.

5. Interviewer: Okay, how long did that storm last? How did you fall?

Velasco: The storm lasted for around 10-12 days, may be. We were pushed out of our deck.

6. Interviewer: Calm down. I understand your trouble. How do you feel now?

Velasco: I feel I have got a second life. I had almost lost all hope of life. I have a family to look after.

7. Interviewer: Did you try to contact your shipmates after that?

No, but I badly miss them. I can understand what they must have been through like me.

8. Interviewer: God bless you. Have you lodged complaint anywhere?

Velasco: Yes I have. I have also received many responses and few newspaper companies have come up to me to know about it.

9. Interviewer: Okay. Can you name them?

Valesco: A reporter from a newspaper company called "El Espectador" came up to me.

10. Interviewer: Thank you Velasco,  wish you all the best for your future.

Velasco: Thank you.

Explanation:

Interviewer: What exactly happened on the day of March 10?

Velasco: Oh! it was a dreadful day; quite unthinkable of. I would rather forget that day of my life. I escaped death.

Interviewer: Can you please elaborate on that day’s happenings?

Velasco: Actually, everything went off as planned by myself and my seven shipmates, but suddenly we were thrown off the deck of the navy destroyer in a Caribbean storm.

Interviewer: Sorry for interrupting you Sir, please tell us your mindset at that time. Did you and your shipmate feared for your life or were you able to keep cool and try to fight the storm?

Velasco: We were literally thrown out into the sea. It was a real nightmare. I lost my shipmates.

Interviewer: Have you any idea who your enemies were sir?

Velasco: Perhaps Columbia Naval Force.

Interviewer: How did you manage to stay in the sea for ten days?

Velasco: I just clung on the raft and fought against the sea current, for ten days without any food or water. Very devastating to be caught in a situation like that.

Interviewer: What was your mental state then?

Velasco: I was really battling for my life without any help from anywhere near my eyes could see, fear and only fear was in my mind. Not exactly fear of death, but fear as to what my family would to in my absence, how they will take the news of my death.

Interviewer: When you began the journey, what did you have in your mind?

Velasco: We were returning to Columbia after a long time at work in the United States. So, we were very happy to go back home and be with our family.

Interviewer: What happened to your shipmates?

Velasco: They got drowned in the sea I suppose.

Interviewer: Did you hear of them later?

Velasco: No, I did not and I don't have any idea. I presume that they died.

Interviewer: Did anyone else get your interview?

Velasco: Yes, a company called “El Expectador”.

Interviewer: Oh! Thank you, Sir. Take care.
