The filament in a bulb is made of tungsten, the bulb is then evacuated and filled with argon gas at a very low pressure to prevent the filament from burning. When electricity passes through the filament it produces light and heat energy. The heat energy heats up the glass around it. Thus when Shom touched a glowing bulb his finger got burnt.
