A shooter gets 10 points every time he hits the target and loses 6 points for missing the target. (a) If he hits the target 4000 times and gains only 1000 points at the end of the championship, find the number of times he missed the target? (b) What is the number of times he has to hit the target so that his score is not in negative, knowing that he has missed the target 5800 times?

Given :- A shooter gets 10 points every time he hits the target and loses 6 points for missing the target. (a) If he hits the target 4000 times and gains only 1000 points at the end of the championship .

To Find :- find the number of times he missed the target ?

Answer :-

→ shooter gets points when hits 1 time = 10

so,

→ shooter should gets points when hits 4000 times = 4000 * 10 = 40000 points .

but,

→ shooter gets points = 1000 .

then,

→ Points she loose = 40000 - 1000 = 39000 points .

therefore,

→ Number of times he missed the target = 39000/6 = 6500 times (Ans.)

(ii)

→ Points he loose when missed the target 5800 times = 5800 * 6 = 34800

then,

→ Targets he must hits = 34800/10 = 3480 + 1 = 3481 targets (Ans.)
