A shop keeper cuts 30 m 50 cm cloth from the roll of 50 m 80 cm. How

much cloth is left in the roll? Express the result in metres.

30 m +50 cm = 80 +80 =160 +50cm =

The length of the cloth, shopkeeper had cut

= 30m 50cm = 30.5 m

The remaining length of cloth = (50.8 – 30.5) m = 20.3 m

∴ The length of the cloth left with her now = 20.3 m OR 20 m 30 cm...!!
