Suppose he sells x pencils.
Total gain on pens = ₹45
Total loss on pencils = ₹40x÷100 = ₹2x÷5
45-2x÷5 = -5
2x÷5 = (45+5)
2x÷5 = 50
x = (50×5) = 125
Hence, the no. of pencils sold is 125
