The ratio is 3:5, So the whole is 3+5=8
Now,
If 8 is to 728
then 1 is to 728/8= 91
Now the proportion of cds is 3
so the total number of cds sold=91×3= 273.

8x = 728
x = 728/8
x=91

Number of cds sold = 3x
3x = 3 x 91
3x = 273
therefore 273 cds were sold
