A shop sells chocolates. It used to sell chocolates for Rs 4.50 each, but there were no sales at that price. When it reduced the price, all the chocolates were sold out enabling the shopkeeper to realise Rs. 316.82 from the chocolates alone. If the new price was not less than half the original price quoted, how many chocolates were sold (at the reduced price)?

Answer:

73 chocolates

Step-by-step explanation:

Find the prime factors of 31682

31682 = 2 x 7 x 31 x 73

Find the reduced price of the chocolate:

2 x 7 x 31 = 434

Reduced Price = Rs 4.34

Find the number number of chocolate sold:

Number of chocolate = 316.82 ÷ 4.34 = 73

Answer: 73 chocolates were sold at the reduced price
