A shopkeeper allows a discout of 10% to his customers and still gains 20%. Find the marked price of the article which cost ₹450.

Gain = 20 %

S.P so that the shopkeeper will gain 20 %

= 450 + (20/100)450

= 450 + 90

= 540 ₹

S.P that should be marked so that the customer will get 10% discount

= 540 + (10/100)540

= 540 + 54

= 594 ₹

Therefore the marked price of an article will be Rs.594 , so that despite of 10% discount , the shopkeeper will gain 20 %.
