A shopkeeper bought 10 books at the rate of 60 each and 50 magazines at the rate of 340 each. He
sold the books and magazines at the flat rate of 50 each. Calculate the loss or give erned by the

cost of 1 book = 60Rs

total books cost = 60 * 10 = 600Rs

no of magazines = 50

cost of 1 magazine = 340Rs

total magazines cost = 50 * 340 = 17000Rs

total books and magazines cost = 17600Rs

he sold for flat 50%

selling cost of each book = 60* 50% = 30Rs

selling price of books = 10 * 30 = 300Rs

selling cost of each magazine = 340* 50% = 170Rs

selling price of magazines = 50 * 170 = 8500Rs

total selling price is 8500 + 300 = 8800Rs

total loss/ gain earned by the shopkeeper

=S. P - C. P

= 8800 - 17600

= - 8800 ( loss )

so it is the loss by the shopkeeper is 8800Rs
