Answer:

A profit of Rs. 1350

Step-by-step explanation:

SP = 68.5 / Kg and amount of rice bought is 100 Kg.

Therefore, Total SP will be 68.5 × 100 = Rs. 6850

CP = Rs. 5500 ( as given )

Since SP > CP, Its a profit by,

Rs. 6850 - Rs. 5500 = Rs. 1350

Given : A shopkeeper bought 100kg of rice for rupees 5500 and sold it for rupees 68.5 per kg.

To Find : Amount gained or lost in the transaction

Solution:

shopkeeper bought 100kg of rice for rupees 5500

=> Cost price = Rs 5500

sold it for rupees 68.5 per kg.

Sold = 100 kg

Selling Price = 100 * 68.5

=> Selling Price = 6850 Rs

SP > CP

=> GAIN

Gain = SP - CP

= 6850 - 5500

= 1350

Amount gained  in the transaction is Rs 1350
