ANSWER:

Rs 26.16

.

EXPLAINATION:

1 dozen = Rs 24 (Given)

.

Find selling price to earn a profit of 9%:

9% of Rs 24 = 0.09 x 24 = Rs 2.16

24 + 2.16 = Rs 26.16

.

The shopkeeper should sell a dozen of pen for Rs 26.16

paramjeet722: the shopkeeper want profit not loss
TooFree: Thank you for highlighting that. I read it as 3 dozen for Rs 24, instead of 1 dozen. Corrected.

shopkeeper wants to earn 9% profit

3 dozen = 36 pen for rupee 24

which means 1 pen for rupee 24/36

i.e 2/3 rupee = 0.66 rupee

now he wants to earn a profit of 9% in total

so 9/100×24=2.16 rupee

so now he will earn 24+2.16 rupee =26.16
and he must sell them
at 26.16/36=0.72 for each pen

thanks
