Given:

A shopkeeper bought 650 bulbs @ rs 10 each.

To find:

The selling price of each bulb so as to gain 20%.

Solution:

1) The cost price to buy 650 bulbs is ₹6500.

2) it is given in the question that 50 bulbs are found to be damaged and shopkeeper wants to sell the remaining to gain a 20% profit.

3) So the selling price will be:

  • 100% -------   ₹6500
  • 1% -----------   6500/100
  • 120% -------   65×120

                             ₹7800

So the selling price is ₹7800

4) But now, the shopkeeper can sell only 600 bulbs

so the selling price of the single bulb will be

  • ₹7800/600
  • ₹13

The selling price of each bulb is 13.
