The gain percent earned in the transaction is (B) 25 % .

• Given,

Number of articles the shopkeeper bought from the market = 25

Cost Price (C.P.) of 25 articles = Rs. 20

• Let the marked price of each article be Re. 1.

=> The marked price of 25 articles = 25 × Re 1 = Rs. 25

• It is given that the articles are sold at their marked price.

=> Selling Price (S.P.) of 25 articles =

Rs. 25

• Profit earned on the whole transaction = S.P. - C.P.

=> Profit = Rs. 25 - Rs. 20

=> Profit = Rs. 5

• Gain % = (Profit / C.P.) × 100 %

=> Gain % = (Rs. 5 / Rs. 20) × 100 %

=> Gain % =  (1 / 4) × 100 %

=> Gain % = 25 %
