A shopkeeper buys 60 dozen eggs at 8.40 per dozen . If 5 dozen eggs are broken and unsaleable at what price per dozen must he sell the remaining eggs to make a profit of 10%?

He buys 60 dozen eggs out of which 5 dozen got broken

so total eggs or remaining eggs = 55

per dozen cost price = 8.40

so cost price of eggs = 55* 8.40 = Rs 462

Formula

profit % = profit *100 / cost price....(1)

here profit = selling price -cost price = sp - 462

so to gain 10% profit

(1) implies

10 = sp -462 / 462

selling price to gain 10% profit = Rs 5082 for entire dozen of eggs

so per dozen selling price is 5082 / 55 = Rs 92.4
