Let the printed price of the article be Rs.x.
Sales tax = 7% of Rs.x = (7/100) × Rs.x = Rs.7x/100.
Selling price = Rs.x + Rs.7x/100 = Rs.107x/100.
As per question, 107x/100 = 36000 or x = (36000 × 100)/107 = . 33645 (Approx.)
Hence, printed price = Rs.33645.
Rebate = 30% of Rs.33645 = (30/100) × Rs.33645 = Rs. 10093.5
Cost price of the article = Rs.36000 – Rs.10093.5 = Rs.25906.5.
Overhead = cost of transportation = Rs.400.
Actual cost price = Rs 25906.5 + Rs.400 = Rs.26306.5.
Profit = Printed price – Actual cost price = Rs.36000 – Rs.26306.5 = Rs.9693.5.
Profit percent = (profit/cost price) × 100% = (9693.5/36000) × 100
= 26.93%. (Answer)
