CP of article=600

MP of the article=600(1+25/100)=600*5/4=750

SP of the article=750(1-10/100)=750*9/10=675

if the SP is 690, then discount=750-690=60

% of discount=60/750*100=8%

Answer:

(i) 675 Rs.

(ii) 8%

Step-by-step explanation:

According to the question

Cost price of an article = 600 Rs.

and shopkeeper marked it 25 % above the cost price.

So,

mark price = 600\ +\ 600\times\frac{25}{100}

                  = 600 + 6 x 25

                  = 600 + 150

                  = 750 Rs.

(i) we have to find the selling price of article at 10% discount.

we know that ,

selling price = (\frac{100\ -\ discount\%}{100})\times mark\ price

                     = \frac{90}{100}\times750

                     = 9 x 75

                     = 675 Rs. (Answer)

(ii) Now we are to find the percentage of discount if selling price will be 690 Rs.

suppose discount percentage is x.

As we know that,

mark\ price\times\frac{100 - discount\%}{100} = selling\ price

750\times\frac{100\ -\ x}{100} = 690

100\ -\ x = \frac{690\times100}{750}

100 - x = 92

100 - 92 = x

∴ x = 8 % (Answer)
