let x be the no. of pencils/pens.

CP of pencils=1.5x

CP of pens=2.25x

total CP=1.5x +2.25x=3.75x

SP of pencils=2x

SP of pens=2x

Total SP =2x+2x=4x

SP>CP

so he made a profit.

Profit=SP-CP

=4x-3.75x=0.25x

profit%=(profit *100)/CP

=0.25x*100/3.75x

=0.25*100/3.75(cancel x)

=25 *100/375(multiply both denominator and numerator by 100

=100/15=6 2/3%
