Step-by-step explanation:

(i) let no. of eraser sold be = x

total loss = rs 10

10 loss by eraser - profit by pencils

10=(0.10x) - (35×1)

10=0.10x-35

45=0.10x

x=450

so 450 erases were sold that day

(ii) let no. of pencils be = y

total profit = rs 28

28= profit by pencils = loss by eraser

28=(1×y) -(100×0.10)

28=y-10

28+10=y

38=y

y=38

so 38 pencils were sold that day

Answer:

Mark me as BRAINLIEST

Step-by-step explanation:

Given,

A shopkeeper sells pencil and eraser

profit of pencil = Rs.2,

loss of eraser =50 paisa.(Rs.0.50)

a) He had loss of Rs.10 in a day

  • he sold 35 pencils.

if the profit of 1 pencil is Rs .2

then ,profit of 35 pencils is =35×2= Rs.70

  • the loss on day is Rs.10

If the loss of 1 eraser is Rs.0.50

the loss on erasers = profit of pencils +loss on

day=Rs .80

the no.of erasers sold on that day is:

Rs.80/Rs 0.50=16

Therefore the no. of erasers sold on that day are 16 erasers.

b) He earned profit of Rs.28

  • He sold 100 erasers

if the loss of 1 eraser is Rs. 0.50

then,the loss of 100 erasers is =

Rs.0.50×100=Rs.50

The total profit of pencils is=

Rs.28+Rs 50=Rs.78

  • If the profit of 1 pencil is Rs.2

then, the no. of pencils of profit Rs.78 are

Rs.78/Rs.2=39

Therefore ,the no. of pencils sold on that day are 39
